Client and event overview
Another year at Boomtown Festival wrapped up, and once again Ethical Staffing was proud to be part of the huge operation behind the city. Across the vast Matterley Estate, tens of thousands of people came together for five days of music, theatre, creativity and everything in between. Behind that experience sat a huge amount of technology – including the cashless systems that kept transactions moving across the festival. For another year, our experienced RFID and cashless support teams worked alongside event technology specialists Weezevent to support festivalgoers using their cashless wristbands. And while the technology did a lot of the heavy lifting, sometimes you still just needed a person to ask.
Putting People Behind Cashless Technology
Throughout Boomtown 2026, Ethical Staffing's RFID operatives provided face-to-face support for attendees, helping with cashless top-ups, answering questions and troubleshooting issues when things didn't quite go to plan.
Our operation extended across all of the remote UMTs positioned throughout the festival site, ensuring attendees could access in-person cashless support without having to make their way back across the vast Matterley Estate.
Across five days, our teams supported festivalgoers with everything from quick questions to more complex cashless issues. It required staff who were confident with the technology in front of them, but just as importantly, great with people.
Working Alongside Weezevent
Working alongside Weezevent, our teams provided the human support behind Boomtown's cashless infrastructure.
Weezevent provides event technology across ticketing, access control, accreditation and cashless payments. For our teams on the ground, understanding the technology, following the right processes and knowing when to escalate more complex issues were all essential to keeping support running effectively across the site.
With Boomtown's capacity increasing for 2026, having experienced teams positioned across such a vast festival site was more important than ever.
The Outcome
Technology Changes. Great Customer Support Doesn't. Cashless technology helped keep transactions moving, but behind every wristband and every query was a real person. Whether we were helping someone top up, answering a quick question or troubleshooting an issue that was stopping them from getting on with their weekend, our role remained simple: make the technology easier for people to use. We're incredibly proud of our team for another brilliant year at Boomtown and to have once again worked alongside Weezevent at one of the UK's most creative festivals.
