Client and event overview

There’s something special about watching a great film outdoors in the heart of Bristol. Set amongst the greenery of Clifton’s Mall Gardens, Bristol Film Festival brought three days of open-air cinema to one of the city’s most distinctive neighbourhoods, with a programme spanning cult classics, family favourites and much-loved films. From Mamma Mia! and The Greatest Showman to Top Gun, Pretty Woman and family screenings, the programme gave audiences plenty of reasons to settle in for a film beneath the Bristol summer sky. Ethical Staffing was proud to be there supporting the experience with ticketing, event stewarding and visitor experience staff.

Cinema in the Heart of Clifton

Part of what makes Bristol Film Festival so distinctive is its use of unusual locations across the city, turning a trip to the cinema into an experience in its own right.

For this edition, the historic Mall Gardens in Clifton Village provided the backdrop, creating a relaxed outdoor setting for audiences across the three-day event.

Our team supported attendees from the moment they arrived, providing a friendly welcome, managing ticketing and admissions, helping visitors navigate the site and supporting the smooth running of the event throughout each screening.

For an event built around creating a relaxed atmosphere, having approachable and knowledgeable staff on the ground was an important part of the wider visitor experience.

Supporting Bristol’s Independent Events

As a Bristol-based event staffing supplier, getting to support events happening in our home city is something we particularly value.

Bristol has an incredible independent cultural scene, and Bristol Film Festival has carved out its own place within it by pairing brilliant films with some of the city's most recognisable and unexpected venues.

Our role is to make sure the staffing reflects that experience.

Whether we're providing ticket scanning staff, event stewards, welcome teams or wider visitor experience staff, we want our people to feel like an extension of the event they're representing rather than simply another supplier on site.

The Outcome

Event Staffing With the Visitor Experience in Mind Working across festivals, cultural events, heritage attractions and public events has taught us that every environment needs something slightly different from its staffing team. At Bristol Film Festival, that meant supporting the practical side of admissions and visitor movement while contributing to the welcoming, laid-back atmosphere that makes an outdoor cinema experience work. It’s exactly the kind of event our teams love being part of: bringing people together, making use of brilliant local spaces and giving audiences a different way to experience Bristol. From first ticket scan to final credits, we were proud to play our part. Looking for an experienced team for your next cultural event?
