Client and event overview
There's something special about seeing Bristol's streets come alive with music. Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, Old City Sounds once again brought live music and entertainment into the heart of Bristol – completely free for the people who live in, work in and visit our city. And for the fourth year, Ethical Staffing was proud to be part of it. Our teams returned to support the event with experienced event stewards, working across its city-centre locations to welcome audiences, provide directions and help the event run smoothly within Bristol's busy public spaces.
Four Years Supporting Old City Sounds
2026 marked our fourth year supporting Old City Sounds, delivered by Bristol City Centre BID.
Unlike a traditional festival site, Old City Sounds takes place amongst the streets, venues and businesses of Bristol's Old City. Our teams work alongside residents, visitors, businesses and people who may simply stumble across a performance while making their way through the city.
Returning year after year means our teams have developed a real understanding of the event and the unique environment it operates within.
It's also part of our wider relationship with Bristol City Centre BID. Ethical Staffing has supported a number of its initiatives and public events, including the Bristol Light Festival, providing experienced teams to help bring large-scale, accessible events to the city.
Why Free City Events Matter
One of the things we love most about Old City Sounds is its accessibility.
There is no festival ticket required to discover a new artist. You can stumble across a performance while shopping, meet friends for a drink and stay for the music, or simply explore a different part of Bristol.
Free events like Old City Sounds create opportunities for local artists, venues and businesses while giving people another reason to spend time in the city centre.
As a Bristol-based event staffing supplier, we're also proud that events like this create flexible, paid opportunities for people within our local workforce.
Our stewards are often some of the most visible people on the ground, helping audiences navigate the event while providing the friendly and approachable presence that public-space events need.
The Outcome
