Client and event overview
Changing 26 bus routes through the middle of a city is no small operation. In August 2026, major changes arrived in Bristol’s Broadmead area, with buses moving away from Union Street, The Horsefair and Penn Street and passengers being directed towards new and upgraded stops across the city centre. (Travelwest) Working alongside Bristol City Council, Ethical Staffing provided 12 Travel Advisors to help make that transition a little easier.
Helping Bristol Find Its New Route
From 25 August to 12 September, our Travel Advisors were positioned across Broadmead, speaking directly with members of the public as the changes came into effect.
Our team helped passengers find their new stops, provided timetable information, answered questions and supported the distribution of free bus tickets. They were also there to promote more sustainable ways of travelling around the city.
With thousands of everyday journeys affected, this was a project built around face-to-face communication.
Our Travel Advisors completed training ahead of deployment and worked alongside Bristol City Council staff throughout the project. Long days, busy travel periods and plenty of questions meant the role called for patience, confidence and a genuine willingness to help.
Part of a Changing City Centre
The Broadmead bus changes form part of wider plans to prepare the area for thousands of new homes alongside future shops and leisure spaces, while creating a more people-friendly city centre.
New and upgraded stops on Fairfax Street, Broad Weir, Lower Castle Street and Bond Street now serve passengers previously travelling through some of Broadmead’s busiest streets.
For a Bristol-based public sector staffing supplier, it was brilliant to support a project changing how people move around our home city.
Projects like this also demonstrate how versatile temporary staffing can be. From Travel Advisors and Welcome Teams to Event Staff and Stewards, the right people on the ground can make major public-facing changes much easier to navigate.
