Client and event overview

For one month, our heritage staffing team had the privilege of working at Stonehenge, supporting English Heritage in welcoming thousands of visitors to one of the world's most recognisable prehistoric monuments. With a history stretching back around 5,000 years, Stonehenge forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts visitors from across the globe. Working within an environment of such significance brings a unique responsibility for the people representing it.

Event Stewarding at Stonehenge

Our event stewarding team provided a welcoming presence throughout the visitor experience, helping guests navigate the site, managing visitor flow and providing information and assistance where needed.

At a heritage attraction like Stonehenge, good stewarding requires an understanding of the environment you're working within. Our team needed to balance the movement of large numbers of visitors with the care expected at a protected historic site.

It's an environment quite unlike your typical event venue — and one we're incredibly proud to have supported.

5,000 Years of History

The history of Stonehenge began around 3000 BC, with the distinctive Stone Circle erected around 2500 BC.

Today, visitors can explore the monument and surrounding prehistoric landscape alongside the Stonehenge Visitor Centre and Stonehenge exhibition, which brings together more than 250 archaeological objects discovered across the World Heritage Site.

For our team, spending a month working alongside this history made Stonehenge a particularly memorable deployment.

The Outcome

Heritage Staffing for Historic Sites Providing heritage staffing requires more than transferring traditional event roles into a historic environment. From visitor flow and customer service to understanding the sensitivities of the location, teams become part of the visitor experience itself.
