Client and event overview

Ethical Staffing is a pretty big name to live up to. It’s also one we chose deliberately. For us, being an ethical event staffing supplier isn’t about putting a few nice words on a website. It should influence how people are paid, how teams are treated, the clients we work with and the impact we have on the communities and environments around us. That thinking sits behind four pillars: People, Planet, Community and Ethics. They’ve shaped Ethical Staffing from the beginning — and continue to influence the business we’re building.

People: It Starts With Our Staff

Without great people, there is no Ethical Staffing.

We believe flexible work should still be fair work. That means employing our staff through PAYE, providing holiday pay and paying at or above the Real Living Wage.

But fair treatment goes beyond a payslip.

From clear communication before an event to approachable management on site, training opportunities and routes into greater responsibility, we want people to feel supported throughout their time working with us.

Our workforce spans different ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. Some people work a handful of events alongside another career. Others build their entire working year around the industry.

There shouldn't be one mould for a great event staff member.

Planet: Making Better Events Possible

We work in an industry that brings thousands of people together — and inevitably has an environmental impact.

Pretending otherwise wouldn't be particularly ethical.

Instead, we want to be part of an events industry actively looking for better ways of doing things.

Our Sustainability Ambassadors have supported recycling points, waste separation and reusable cup schemes at events across the UK. In 2024, that included working at Massive Attack's ACT 1.5 in Bristol, an event designed to demonstrate how live music can significantly reduce its carbon impact.

We've also supported clients and events whose environmental ambitions closely align with our own.

We're not going to claim staffing alone can make an event sustainable. But the right people on the ground can help turn sustainability plans into actions audiences actually engage with.

The Outcome

Community: Creating Opportunities Where We Work Events happen in communities, not in isolation from them. Where possible, we prioritise local recruitment, creating flexible paid opportunities for people living near the events we support. It's an approach we've taken from Bristol to rural Wiltshire and across the UK. Our connection to community also extends through our sister organisation, My Cause UK, which enables festival volunteers to support charities they personally care about while helping deliver some of the UK's best-loved events. Over more than a decade, that model has helped generate over £300,000 for more than 900 UK charities. For us, that's what community impact should look like: creating opportunities that extend beyond the event itself. Ethics: Doing What We Say We'll Do And then there's the word in our name. Being ethical doesn't mean pretending we're perfect. It means being transparent, accountable and prepared to keep improving. That applies to how we communicate with staff, how we build relationships with clients, how we approach pay and employment, and how we respond when something doesn't go to plan. Our clients trust us with important parts of their operations. Our staff trust us with their work and their time. We don't take either lightly. More Than Four Words People. Planet. Community. Ethics. They're useful pillars, but they only mean something if you can see them reflected in how a company actually operates. For Ethical Staffing, that means fair pay. Local opportunities. Supporting more sustainable events. Creating routes into the industry. Building long-term partnerships. And being open about where we can continue to do better. Because having Ethical in our name comes with responsibility. We're happy with that.
