Client and event overview
Working inside a building with almost 900 years of history makes for a pretty special day at work. Throughout 2026, Ethical Staffing has been proud to support Bristol Cathedral with visitor experience staffing, welcoming people into one of the most significant historic landmarks in our home city. Alongside supporting everyday visitors, our teams have worked across a programme of candlelight orchestra shows brought to the Cathedral by Xperience Live. It’s a brilliant example of how historic buildings can continue to evolve as cultural spaces, bringing together heritage, live entertainment and visitor experience under one very impressive roof.
Visitor Experience in a Historic Setting
Bristol Cathedral’s story stretches back to 1140, when St Augustine’s Abbey was founded on the site.
Today, the Cathedral remains an active place of worship while welcoming visitors to explore its architecture, history and busy programme of events and performances.
Our teams provide a welcoming presence, helping people navigate the building, answering questions and supporting the wider Cathedral team during busy periods.
It’s also a great example of what heritage staffing really requires.
Working within a historic venue calls for more than traditional event staffing. Staff need to understand the environment they’re representing and adapt their approach accordingly, balancing great customer service with respect for the building and its everyday purpose.
From Cathedral to Concert Venue
One particularly memorable part of our work has been supporting performances produced by Xperience Live.
Xperience Live brings performances to spectacular venues around the UK, with candlelight concerts and orchestral shows celebrating music ranging from Motown and ABBA to Adele, George Michael and Hans Zimmer.
At Bristol Cathedral, hundreds of candles and live music transform an already spectacular building into an atmospheric performance space.
Our teams help audiences arrive, navigate the Cathedral and settle into the experience, supporting the transition from daytime visitor attraction to evening event venue.
That adaptability is something we value highly in our event staff.
The Outcome
Supporting Visitor Attractions Across the UK As a Bristol-based event staffing supplier, we’re particularly proud to support a landmark that forms such an important part of our city. But our experience in historic and culturally significant environments extends much further. From heritage staffing and event stewarding at Stonehenge to visitor-facing teams at Longleat, illuminations at Bristol Cathedral and our year-long deployment at the BBC Earth Experience, our staff are accustomed to environments where the setting itself is a major part of the experience. It’s experience that spans visitor attractions, heritage sites, immersive exhibitions, illuminations and live events — with teams who understand that each environment needs a slightly different approach. Whether someone is stepping through the Cathedral doors to discover centuries of history or arriving for an evening of live music, our objective remains the same: creating a welcome worthy of the setting.
